Jackson in talks over gambling-based movie
Beth Raymer’s book, Lay The Favorite: A Memoir of Gambling, is set to be filmed. Dawson’s Creek star, Joshua Jackson, is in negotiations to star in the gambling-themed movie. The Canadian actor played a leading role in Dawson’s Creek and also gained fame for staring in the American science fiction series Fringe.
Lay The Favorite: A Memoir of Gambling was published in 2010. The book tells the real life story of a cocktail waitress who conquers the sports betting world in Las Vegas. Bruce Willis is set to portray an unlucky professional bettor (Dink), while Justin Timberlake will play the role of a bookie
from Long Island. Catherine Zeta-Jones is rumored to play Dink’s spouse Tulip.
Focus Films will produce the movie and shooting will start in the second half of this year. The script comes from D.V. DeVincentis, who also wrote the script for High Fidelity and Grosse Point Blank. English
