Collaboration between Le Monde and Sportingbet
Sportingbet, the world’s leading online sports betting, casino and poker company, continued their preparations to penetrate the regulated gambling market in France, as they penned a contract with the internet version of the French newspaper Le Monde.
Le Monde – Sportingbet
Sportingbet and Le Monde have signed a two-year exclusive agreement, which will take effect at the start of next month in order to meet the legislative alterations in France. The corporation consists of a fresh co-branded product, offered at the sport pages of Le Monde, while it also includes an advertising deal.
Regulated gambling market
Le Monde and Sportingbet emphasized their desire to meet the French law, and for that reason, the deal will be introduced in two phases. The first stage includes the introduction of a free betting application from April 2010, while the second stage consists of a real money website when the market officially is liberalized (probably as of June 1, 2010).
EU and French regulations
“Le Monde users are used to innovative services and high quality that comply with EU and French regulations, and Sportingbet’s current policy proves their ability to meet this expectation,” according to Philippe Jeannet, chief executive officer of Le Monde.
