The US still doesn’t get it
It’s interesting how the rest of the world perceives the United Sates. The perceptions are certainly diverse and not all off them favor the US. The Bush government really damaged the image of the US. Many still can’t forgive the US and its politicians the ongoing war in Afghanistan. There are several complaints but they all point to the way the American administration deals with issues like online gambling. The 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) received a lot of criticism. The UIGEA resulted in a monopolistic and protected market and foreign online gambling websites are banned in the US.
After the introduction of the UIGEA the American administration has missed out many opportunities to cancel it. Only recently US politicians have started to discuss the legitimacy and constitutionality of the legislation. The ban on foreign gambling websites is also discussed. In the meantime, offshore casinos have been banned and blocked for more than three years. The US Congress has so far failed to make serious progress. Many countries have lost revenues after the US stepped out of the global online gambling market. The world follows with great interest the development in the US. Individual American states have started to regulate and legalize online gambling within the state borders.
Online gambling US
The US administration still blocks foreign gambling websites. This is rather useless and absurd given the prospering black market. Only the less strict and unknown online gambling firms are accessing American players. It provides the world another reason to justify the negative image of the US.
