Illegal gamblers arrested at Oak Ridge-based depot
Nineteen gambling players have been arrested at a depot in Oak Ridge. The poker players were inhabitants of Knoxville, Powell, Oliver Springs, Louisville, Heiskell, Kingston and Sunbright. The suspects are in the age group of 24 to 59 years.
Small-scale poker tournament
One of the defendants, Billy Sam, declared that it was a small-scale poker tournament. “It was the first poker
game we played at the warehouse.” Jim Akagi, speaking on behalf of the police, revealed that investigators are still examining the case.
An anonymous tip led to the raid
. Police officials inspected the depot and noticed that all windows were shuttered. They found poker tables, cards and poker tokens at the warehouse.
