Genetic nature of gambling addiction

Scientists studied identical and fraternal twins. Genetically identical twins have the same characteristics. While fraternal twins are clearly different. By choosing this target group, the researchers show to what extent gambling is affected genetically or by the environment.
Research Results
1% of women and 3% of men suffered from gambling problems accordingg to the investigation. The results turned out a test group of 47 people, including family and friends of the twins. Worldwide, approximately 2% of the population suffer from
compulsive gambling. Men are at greater risk of addiction because they have fewer dopamine.
Gambling addiction is complicated disease
One of the scientists responded to the outcome of the investigation.
Wendy Slutske indicates that a gambling addiction, just like alcohol addiction, is a complicated disease. It is still unclear which specific genes increase the risk of gambling addiction.
