Gambling on the job results in lay-offs

Gambling and drinking alcohol at work has led to dismissal of seven Baltimore County Government employees. They were fired after the city inspector caught them shooting dice and drinking cognac, wine and beer during working hours. Five other arrested have been suspended.
Gambling on the job
The canteen of the maintenance shop was raided on March 25. The city inspector general’s office was informed about gambling activities by transportation staff. They were caught playing dice and drinking alcoholic beverages. In addition, dices and $5,900 in cash were seized.
Lay-offs
The employees are part of an unit that organizes festivals and fairs. They face misdemeanor gambling counts. Supervisor Frank J. Amonica was not caught gambling and
drinking but he was suspended without pay.
