Social networking website Facebook is set to hire a Head of Games Partnerships. This new post emphasizes the importance of casual gaming. The new manager will develop and improve relations with game publishers and operators. Facebook was introduced in 2004 and has currently more than 500 million members.
More than 200 million Facebook members play games like FarmVille on a regularly basis, according to a Facebook spokesman. This demonstrates the enormous potential of social gaming. FarmVille is a real-time farm simulation game created by Zynga.

Market watchers consider the move as a way to enhance relationships with developers. Those relations deteriorated after Facebook canceled its notifications channel. The social networking firm insisted developers to use official Facebook credits, which provide Facebook a 30% revenues share.
Previous reports stated that Google is set to increase competition in the social networking business. Google plans a social networking site that focuses on social gaming. The internet search company recently pumped €141.52 million in social gaming firm Slide. Additionally, Google invested €155.52 million in a corporation with Zynga.
