Illegal casino shut down in Haltom City
04-08-2011
An illegal gambling parlor has been closed down at a Haltom City-based house. Seven suspects were arrested and 25 gambling devices were confiscated. Before last weekend’s operation, authorities executed four similar raids in the region. In October 2010, three people were killed in a gunfight related to another
illegal casino.
Deadly shootout
The joint operation of the Haltom City and Fort Worth police was the result of an unidentified tip. Police reported that the raided house was packed with gaming devices. Last year’s deadly shootout initiated the operations. A dispute between gambling operators allegedly triggered the shootings. Tuan Van Nguyen (39) from Fort Worth was detained near a local hospital.
Real money slots gambling
Authorities reported that many slot machines were found at the home located in the 1700 block of North Beach Street. Twenty-five
gambling devices were confiscated. Spinning the reels of slots for real money is prohibited in Texas. The second-largest US state only permits non-monetary prizes worth less than $5.
