Tampa Bay residents collect their lottery prizes

Two lottery players from the Tampa Bay area have both claimed their $1 million cash prize. The first one, Greta Engstrom, took home the staggering jackpot from the Mega Millions drawing. The 66-year-old woman bought the fortunate ticket at a retailer in Spring Hill. The Florida Lottery will award the supermarket in question a selling bonus check for $1,000.

$1 million Powerball ticket

PowerballShakira Fontalvo is the second winning lottery player in the Tampa Bay area. The 20-year-old Tampa resident won $1 million in cash courtesy of a lucky Powerball ticket. Fontalvo purchased the entry at a Tampa-based retailer, read a statement from the Florida Lottery. That supermarket was awarded a $1,000 check for selling the winning Powerball ticket.

Next jackpot: $284 million

Today’s Powerball drawing features a life-changing jackpot worth nearly $284 million. In May last year, a lucky player from Zephyrhills, Florida took home $590.5 million in cash courtesy of a winning Powerball ticket. Your chances of winning the lottery on a single ticket are one in 175 million, which doesn’t take anything away from its popularity.
