Powerball player takes home $700,000 in cash
The popular Powerball game has delivered another $1 million prize winner
after a 50-year-old gambler scooped the jackpot during last Saturday’s drawing. Bryon Davis from Ascension Parish, Louisiana has claimed his jackpot after the first five numbers on his ticket lined up. He could have won even more if the red Powerball number drawn had matched the one on his ticket.
First big winner
A Louisiana Lottery official issued him a check for about $700,000 after taxes. The 50-year-old winner bought the fortunate ticket at a Donaldsonville-based convenience store. The owner of the store revealed that no other customer had ever won a cash prize of this magnitude. He added that one customer had once won about $2,500 in cash courtesy of a winning lottery ticket.
Additionally, the Louisiana Lottery provided the convenience store with a $10,000 bonus. The owner has used the money to hire two new employees. However, the store will benefit from the publicity after selling the winning ticket. “This will certainly boost ticket sales for lotteries and lotto games,” the owner said. While winning a $1 million jackpot seems a lot of money, it shrinks into insignificance compared to a $50 million Powerball jackpot
