The Maine State Lottery Commission has announced that a Fayette resident has won $2,301,000 in cash
courtesy of the Megabucks Plus game. Bethany Struck will receive $963,126 after taxes as she has chosen a lump-sum payment. Jackpot winners have to pay a 25% federal government’s tax rate, while the state of Maine collects another 5%.
Rewards for selling winning ticket
Struck bought the lucky ticket at a local corner shop, which will receive a $23,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. Both the shop manager and the workers will also receive a bonus. A Big Apple bodega based in Fairfield, Maine sold the previous winning ticket in late September 2012. Linda Von Oesen took home $4,148,922 in cash thanks to a winning Megabucks Plus ticket.
