Lottery jackpot results in misery
Winning a $3 million lottery jackpot
has led to misery for a couple. The duo fled Sierra Leone and moved to Australia. They hit a $3 million Powerball jackpot in 2008 after the woman purchased the lucky ticket. The troubles began after their break up a few months later.
Several lawsuits followed due to many lies, accusations and mistreatment including missing money and properties. At first, the woman (Kneen) claimed that she failed to receive any money of the Powerball jackpot. Kneen confessed her lies and admitted that her ex-boyfriend (Crockford) paid her $600,000.
The court decided that the domestic violence accusations were groundless. Crockford was accused of being uncooperative and untruthful. The judge ruled that Crockford was entitled $1.5 million, and presently owned properties worth $913,511.17. His ex-girlfriend now owns him $586,911.20. Kneen also has the option to abandon ownership of some of the assets that she owned to him.
