Standard Liege signs sponsorship deal with Loterie Nationale
Belgian football club Standard Liège has signed a sponsorship deal with Belgian Loterie Nationale. As a result of this partnership deal, the website of Belgium’s national lottery will feature the Standard Liège shirts. Royal Standard de Liège is one of the most successful clubs in Belgium.
Pierre Francois, CEO of Standard Liège, commented: “We are pleased with this sponsorship
deal. Loterie Nationale is a leading institution. The brand will increase visibility for all parties. Standard is now ready for the friendly match against Real Madrid on Tuesday 17th August.”
Market watchers estimate that the Belgian national lottery
pays approximately €1.90 million. ‘Les Rouches’ will mainly invest the money in a new training ground. Francois said: “Our training ground is very expensive. Leasing real estate costs €180.000 every quarter. Additional investments and yearly operating costs are approximately €7 million. Support by the Belgian national lottery enables us to realize our goal. We want to offer young people sporting activities and education.”
Mobile phone company Base was the club’s primary sponsor. Standard Liège finished ninth last season. Due to this disappointing result, they are not qualified for this season’s European competition.
