Fired, suspended and resigned
According to a police statement, the sanctions are the result of a research conducted by the Metropolitan Police Service's (MPS) Directorate of Professional Standards. Two police officers have been fired for serious breach of discipline, while 4 police constables have resigned. Additionally, one officer has been suspended and 3 others face criminal indictments.
Indiscipline at workplace
“The research revealed that the officers had gambled during work hours and had watched television. Their indiscipline at workplace also resulted in overtime fraud, while they often failed to work full shifts. One officer visited a fitness center whilst on duty, and another one polished his golf clubs during working hours,” read a statement from the south London Police.
