Two arrests after failed robbery at casino complex
Two assailants have been arrested by the police. They tried to rob an elderly pair at the Tropicana Casino and Resort in Atlantic City. The failed robbery took place on the 11th floor of the casino
complex. Maurice Medlin (34) from Elmont and Cynthia Walker (31) face several charges.
Pennsylvania resident Allan Espinoza declared that he and his spouse were threatened by the assailants near their hotel room. Both robbers had been seeking victims in the casino resort, according to police investigators.
Espinoza commented: “The robbers forced us back into our room. One of them punched me with a gun. After the punch, I was unconscious for a few seconds. He put a pistol to my head.” Linda Espinoza, his spouse, managed to flee to the tenth floor. Medlin and Walker left the room without stealing anything.
“I left the room to seek help. That was the only way to help my husband,” Linda Espinoza said. Both assailants attempted to flee by using a stairwell. A security guard arrested Walker while Medlin managed to ran back to the room. Police officers tried to convince Medlin to open the door. After approximately 90 minutes he opened the door after which he was detained
by a SWAT team.
