Protesting casino employees suspended
Casino workers who participated in last Friday's protest run the risk of being suspended. Tony Rodio, president of the Tropicana Casino and Resort, revealed that 21 employees have already been suspended indefinitely. He claims that the protest affected visitors, which makes it an illegal activity.
49 employees arrested
The protesting employees obstructed the casino's entrance, which resulted in 49 people arrested
. Local 54 of the Unite-HERE union had organized the demonstration after the casino decided to end the employee pension plan. Additionally, the union demands a new contract for the workers.
It remains unclear if the suspended employees will lose their job. "The protesting workers violated the law as the demonstration affected customers. Honestly, the suspensions are the natural result of the illegal activities," Rodio added.
